Why It Feels Like You're Failing To Build

52 days.
That’s how long it took Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. In under two months, Nehemiah pushed back his enemies. Restored the wall of an abandoned city & took ownership over the land God had promised the Israelites.
It begs the questions...
What Am I Doing Wrong?
God gave you a blueprint of your destiny.
A precision map that would impact the world for generations to come. That vision stirred a hunger in you, so you took your first step &, “SLAM!” goes the first door you knocked on.
What took Nehemiah 52 days, has taken you 52+ weeks.
9/10 you’re not doing something wrong. It’s more likely you turned left too early or when you should’ve gone right. You’re behind schedule & the enemy has been playing reverse whack-a-mole with your circumstances.
So, let’s look at some of the reasons your vision has been delayed
Missed Steps =
Armed with the promise of their favorite cookie my boys often make a mad dash down the stairs to our pantry. Problem is that excitement hides a hidden step. If you move too fast it will make a reappearance & introduce you to his best friend, the floor.
My boys learned this lesson the hard way.
It took a few tumbles before mommy’s warning of “slow down” registered, but we’re no different. Once we get a word from God, we make a mad dash towards the finish line. In our haste we miss a step that leads to victory & then need to double back later down the line.
Slow down, God isn’t going anywhere!
When God gives you a vision, He means to expand on it. Take time to sit with Him to develop your strategy. Allow deep to call onto deep & process the mechanics of heaven He’s revealed to you.
Instructions Are the Lifeline of Your Destiny
“There’s nothing new under the sun.”
Because God already created that same system in heaven before man got the revelation. The bible is full of instruction. It’s a life-style user manual God put together to implement those mechanics of heaven here on earth.
Our heavenly father is practical.
When He gives a commandment, He always includes the instructions to walkout that commandment. Key word, INSTRUCTIONS, plural. God told Moses to lead His people out of Egypt to the promised land & that came with instructions that kept them safe, healthy & on track.
It wasn’t God that delayed His promise, it was the people.
Their desire to return to Egypt instead of obeying the instructions of the Lord lead to a 40 year delay. Obedience will accelerate your timetable. Document the instructions you’re given & go back over past instructions.
If you’re not sure what God told you to do, ask Him!
Recalibrate your Compass
True north never changes, but a compass does.
Once you’ve got your heading & instruction it’s easy to get lost in the journey .Compasses use magnets that’re tuned into the earth’s magnetic fields. Overtime those fields shift, which leads to “true north” become “u-turn south.”
Your compass needs to be recalibrated.
The only way to recalibrate is by finding true north. My favorite way to recalibrate is through the cross. It’s only by the blood of God that we can walkout the destiny on our life & build the vision God has given us.
Jesus is the way, the truth & the light.
Without His fire by nigh & pillar of smoke by day the Israelites would’ve never found Caanan. God is sending you mentors. Spiritual parents & accountability partners to help you recalibrate. Pay attention!
The mechanics of heaven can are heavy, but in the mouths of two or three all things will be established. Nehemiah didn’t build alone & neither should you. Build with those God has sent to, and together you will each build your section of the wall.
Perfection is Overrated
Do the hard thing.
Perfection is found in Christ, not your circumstances. If you want to see your vision come to life, start somewhere. God said you were promised the land, so go and take it!
Make time for what is important.
The devil heard the word God gave you too. He will do everything within his power to delay & discourage you. The perfect time, finances & circumstances won’t come.
Faith to walk on stormy seas will see you through.
Trust that God told you to build the vision he gave you. Be like Apostle Marvelous who preached under a tree for 3 months until the people came. Now he runs one of the largest apostolic churches in Oklahoma!
Do the hard thing.
Have faith & step out in obedience. As you do, you won’t have time to wonder “what am I doing wrong?” Rather, you’ll find yourself running the race God had set before with the endurance to finish in first place.
